Collagen is the most common protein of the fibrous connective tissue of alive organisms.  It has specific composition of amino acids that is marked by big share of glicyne, proline and hydroxyproline. The gerontological research has shown unequivocally that the ageing process of skin takes place in the connective tissue, which main element is protein–collagen. Physiological processes of the skin ageing consist in onward transformation of soluble collagen that is in young tissue, into insoluble form through biological process of the connective tissue ageing.  The skin loses its elasticity and swell-ability because of reduced water-binding abilities.  The loss of the soluble collagen is therefore a natural effect in the ageing process, but from the cosmetic point of view, it is extremely undesirable. It is therefore a well-founded necessity to supplement the loss of this protein, through the application of collagen cosmetic preparations, where the soluble collagen works as natural moisturing factor (NMF).
Native soluble collagen is obtained in PROTEINA by extraction of protein from the connective tissue and is available as a concentrated dispersion.
Carefully controled process ensures that only the highest molecular weight soluble collagen molecules with molecular weight of over 360.000 daltons are extracted.
Soluble collagen obtained in PROTEINA has a complex triple helical structure which is responsible for its high moisture retention properties and pronounced smoothing effect on the skin. It prevents excessive moisture loss and so helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Soluble collagen exhibits high film forming properties and imparts a perceptible skin feel when included in all types of moisturising creams and lotions. It is preferred protein for all skin care preparations, where it softens the skin and acts as a moisture reservoir combating dry, flaky skin.
Moreover the research executed  in Poland by Health Protection Institute for mining industry, has shown that the contents of soluble collagen in iodine–bromine salt increases  the therapeutic effects of this salt, particularly in case of  skin burns and of dermatitis. Soluble collagen is an effective natural factor that influences holding back of mineral compounds in the organism and in the skin and plays an important role in the granulating and wound-curing process.
The preparation Soluble Collagen with Elastin manufactured by PROTEINA combines the properties of soluble collagen – film forming and anti ageing ingredient with properties of hydrolyzed elastin - natural skin moisturizer, enhancing the flexibility and elasticity of the dermis and improving skin feel.
Collagen together with elastin is the most common fibrous protein of the connective tissue of living organisms and both of them are valuable protective proteins for the skin and hair.
